Gabriel grew up in a Christian orphanage. The nuns who fostered him, cared for him dearly and he is full of an abundance of love and laughter.
With hard work that earned him bursaries, he gave himself a solid education in both theology and teaching. Growing up in the Christian orphanage, his love for Christ has been rooted with a heart for teaching.
The nuns taught him that there are no co-incidences or accidents or mistakes in God’s economy of Faith. He was simply meant to be there at the orphanage with them. They were his family and always will be.
The most interesting thing happened in Gabriel’s final year at the orphanage. A British nun that frequently visited the British Queen, in England came to live with them. She brought along with her, a colourful English Parrot that she raised from a baby, called Arnie and gave him as a gift to Gabriel when he left the orphanage.
Years later, Gabriel happened to be at the right place, at the right time. Tired of city life in Pretoria, he packed Arnie up with him and the two of them went on a sabbatical to Natal. It was here that he attended a farmers’ market on Giftlands Farm, where he met the kids, their parents and Ms. Hennie. Within a flash, he was employed as their farm caregiver and home tutor – and the rest is history.
As far has Gabriel’s been concerned, education is a great and much needed investment. But he’s more intent on giving the Giftlands kids valuable life tools. Just as he had as a child. He knows that when you live with kingdom living principles, everything else in life simply works out.
